Caregivers and Dementia
The First Canadian Healthcare Conference featured an article entitled "Dementia-related challenges" by Sherri Torjman, which highlighted a number of challenges for caregivers in the health care system. "Of the total 168 hours in the “24/7” week for which caregivers must be available, only a weekly maximum 15 hours of home care is provided by the formal system of services"

Seniors' Mental Health and Dementia: Accelerating Knowledge Transfer and Exchange
Experts and stakeholders in the fields of senior’s mental health, dementia, and knowledge transfer and exchange came together for a two-day Think Thank at the end of March.  Outcomes of the event included: informing the development of a national knowledge exchange network and centre, identifying opportunities to leverage local, provincial and national organizations involved in knowledge exchange in the area of seniors' mental health and/or dementia and exploring the  the option of creating a Knowledge Transfer and Exchange Community of Practice.  An addition, a national KTE Knowledge Bank was created with the support of AKE and the Senior’s Health Research Transfer network that contains hundreds of literature references that related to knowledge transfer and exchange. Read more

User-friendly Educational Guides for Seniors and their Families
The CCSMH has produced a series of user-friendly educational guides for older adults and their family members on key mental health topics: mental health issues in long-term care homes, delirium, depression and suicide prevention.
